Hawaii Warriors Not Getting Their Due!

None of the so-called college experts are giving the Hawaii Warriors their due and its just wrong. Sure they are finally ranked 12th in the BCS, but we all know the BCS is a joke. This is where everyone who follows college would agree that division one football desperately needs a playoff...

This past off season June Jones, the head coach of the Warriors contacted Michigan about playing Hawaii in their opening game, Michigan declined and opted for Appalachian State and we all know how that ended up. Then Jones contacted USC and asked if they would play Hawaii and they declined as well. Michigan State paid Hawaii $ 250,000.00 to back out of a game with the Warriors. So Jones is trying to get teams to play Hawaii and their non conference schedule does not seem to be their fault. Why don't teams want to face the Warriors? Is it the expense of traveling to Hawaii to play a game? Is it Colt Brennan? Please someone do tell!!
Hawaii needs to either swallow their pride and play the big boys on the road or move to the Pac-10. In college football, no team plays anywhere unless it is to their advantage either financially or from a competition standpoint. Could Hawaii beat a top 10 team? Maybe but we don’t know that. What we do know is that they have played a shitty schedule and their only big win was against Boise State. It seems like Hawaii is trying to gain some respectability and that’s great but they have to find some way to work within the system to get more exposure and play higher competition even if that means playing fewer home games.

I see your point Andy but they DID try and play some big schools this year and you see my point where Michigan State paid them to back out of a game and Michigan said no thanks to a home game with Hawaii. What gave Kansas the number 2 ranking, who have they played besides getting their asses handed to them by Mizzou!

Hawaii wasn't calling about going to play at those schools... they wanted them to fly to Hawaii. Thats a pain in the ass on many different levels. Maybe they are screwed because of where the school is... maybe they did try to play better schools. But they need to be willing to travel when you are the one school that is the furthest away. Prove that you deserve other teams to come to your house to play first.

Oregon and Michigan played week 2... you mean to tell me Oregon or Michigan would agree to play each other but turn down Hawaii? Come on. But turning down a long flight, and a 6 hour time difference to play one game that will mess their schedule up the week before and the week after makes little sense.

Hawaii has shown they are a very good team... but with a stregnth of schedule in the triple digits in toughness doesn't prove much. And i'm sorry, but the win over Boise State isn't anything either. Boise plays just as weak of a schedule and lost to the one major conference team they played (4-8 washington).

Put middle of the road SEC teams in Hawaii's conference and they roll over those teams as well.

IN THEORY, KU plays in a "power conference" and was undefeated. Hawaii plays in the WAC which is not even close to being a "power conference" so advantage KU.

The biggest flaw in the BCS system is how it treats non-BCS schools. But it does weigh a lot on the coaches poll so if the coaches really did respect Hawaii that much then they would be ranked higher.

The biggest problem with the nonBCS teams especially Hawaii this season, their schedule is 117 out of 119. They need someone stronger then a bad Washington team.

Of course, they have tried to play real teams but nobody will.

The worst thing about the BCS is the fact that if you are in a 'power conference' you can get away with a weak non-conf schedule so why schedule a real team?

Everyone remembers Michigan vs App st. Michigan wins that game and they gain nothing but a win, they lose and everyone writes them off, even had they won out all season nobody would be picking them for the national title game cuz they lost to a D-1AA team or FCS or whatever they are calling themselves now.

If the nonBCS teams were smart, they would form a new conference with Hawaii, Boise St, TCU, and 5 or 6 other top teir nonBCS teams to increase their SOS and have a chance to make the BCS yearly thing.
