They are trying to save money by getting rid of anything that is good on the team.

And yet the past 5 years they have a championship and the phillies got nothin.

On Mike and Mike this morning they said that their payroll this year will be roughly between 8-10 million dollars! That's it! WTF! There are some players that are sitting on the bench that make that in one year let alone a whole team. George Steinbrenner uses 8 Million dollars to wipe his ass after he takes a shit. Hey MLB CONTRACT THE MARLINS.

Truth be told, at this point Dontrelle Willis is pretty much just a name. He has not been the "D-Train" for a while now. The Tigers should be (and probably are) more excited about getting Miguel Cabrera. Now that guy is awesome.

As for the Marlins, what's the big deal? They have done this twice before; develop players on the cheap and win a championship. Right now they are just in their down cycle. I'd be willing to bet the 4 prospects Florida got from Detroit are pretty good players.

All in all, I'm glad to see this deal was done with Detroit instead of the f-ing Sawx on another one of their spending binges.

I've been calling for them to be contracted forever now... Maybe its time to bump this...
I want the Marlins CONTRACTED!

There is no way any team should have a payroll less than $10mil. And its even worse because they have home games where 400 people show up. No reason to have a team there.

The Marlins are a disgrace to baseball, championship or not. They basically are a farm system for the bigger market teams. The players they got from Detroit are great prospects, one is considered a can't miss. Great, once he/they blossom they to will be traded.

Detroit is not exactly covering themselves in glory either. Even if both Willis and Cabrera have two or three great years the Tigers have now emptied their farm system. They better draft well the next three years.

Ummm, Cabrera is 24 and Willis is 25. They could have these two for the next 10 years. This is one of those times where it doesn't really hurt you to trade youth, because you are getting young proven guys in return.

Willis will be very good in Detroit... Book it. I know everyone always says you should always play your best no matter what the circumstance is... but lets face it, playing in front of 400 people on a shit team, its gotta be hard to get up for every game, every time.
