John Hayes - JackAss of the week December 18th, 2007 - December 26th, 2007

Police: Coach Turned Holiday Displays Into Porn
Group Reportedly Put Reindeer In Sexual Positions

A coach faces charges after police said he led a group of students on a lewd Christmas prank in Marietta.

Police said John Hayes, 46, loaded several middle schoolers into the back of his pickup truck, and drove them around after dark as they damaged Christmas displays.

The group even made several homeowners’ displays X-rated, police said, including placing reindeer in sexual positions.

A homeowner who did not want to be identified said he followed Hayes’ pickup truck and confronted him.

“I said ‘Are you crazy?’ and he said, ‘It's just a bit of fun,’” the homeowner said.

Other adults in the neighborhood aren't laughing.

“We try as hard as we can to keep our kids on the straight and narrow, and then to find out it was a parent actually doing this, it makes you wonder,” said Jennifer Schuchmann, one of the residents allegedly victimized by Hayes’ group.

CBS 46 went to Hayes’ home Monday night, but he refused to come to the door. Police said Hayes refuses to give up the names of his young accomplices.

“He's not very cooperative, he will not give us information on those juveniles. We've tried to talk with him, but I believe he understands what he's done is wrong,” said Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce.

Schuchmann said Hayes apologized and replaced their damaged display.

“To see an adult leading kids to do this kind of property damage isn't right but they did pay us back,” she said.

Hayes is charged with trespassing, contributing to the delinquency and reckless conduct.

Hayes was released from jail on a $2,500 bond. No court date has been scheduled.

Oh back to the origional dude... wtf was he thinking? Taking middle school kids around destroying x-mas decorations? Is there more to this story? What a horrible example to set on impressionable kids.

Come on... when you have kids (poor things), and their coach did this, you'd be pissed. No, its not the end of the world, but things don't have to be catastrophic for them to be wrong. Its teaching children at impressionable ages that doing this type of thing is okay. Whats next, they grow up destroying bigger things? Maybe they break into your house and destroy everything. I bet then you would care more.

No you are right, not all kids turn out bad. But don't you think a coach, an adult figure, taking these kids out and showing them how to do it would increase the risk of bad behavior in the future? Its just not the propper lesson to send to kids. I just don't see how an adult taking kids out to comit a crime isn't a big deal.

I think you are correct that he wasn't thinking. Not because he felt it was some innocent fun but because he is an immature jackass who doesn't know any better and has no business being in a supervisory role.
