On his blog, McNabb asks Eagles for playmakers

Not sure if it's acceptable to actually post threads here or if it is just for commenting on the ones auto-posted, but here goes.

"Another head-scratcher came when Reid was asked about quarterback Donovan McNabb saying the Eagles needed to add difference-making players on offense, defense and special teams. Many observers, Eagles fans and other players had thought or said similar things."

Can't say I disagree with Mcnaab wanting some playmakers, it's just uncomfortable for some of his teammates I imagine being called out for replacement, I can't imagine this helping the club

on that note, does anyone else chuckle about the fact that Mcnaab is sitting home typing a blog? just odd to think of an NFL quarterback in that situation.

Stinks... i moved this to the "NFL Rants" section. You can certainly post this in the news section. Problem is that it will get burried so fast because of all the News feeds that come in all day and night. I figured you'd rather not have it burried.

I'm 100% with DMac on this. Brady called the team out to get better playmakers and it worked. And the rest of the Eagles should be right there with him on this as well. The only reason anyone would be upset is if they knew they weren't a good enough playmaker. The rest of the team should want better, more skilled players.

true, but isn't there already (although insane) an underlying feeling in Philly that Mcnaab is actually the problem? If I'm reading that right although I don't agree, this may not help matters.

Eagles fans, for a large part, are huge retards. (But so are fans of most teams). Years back they were calling for Feeley to replace McNabb... OOps. Then it was that Garcia was better than McNabb, they should have kept him. Garcia had a solid year, he didn't win many games, but he also didn't lose many either. No one that is being honest would take Garcia over McNabb.

McNabb had TO... what happened? They went to the Super Bowl. The proof is out there... give the man a real #1 receiver, and they are going to win games. How nice would it be to move the whole receiving core down one spot on the depth chart? Brown plays the #2 CB, Curtis gets a #3 CB or a safety. How the Eagles don't see this as a problem will never make sense to me.

Postmakers:
Mike,
We really need to grow this site. We need to get rid of some of the posters here
with post counts under 1000 and bring in some real postmakers from other boards.

Is there a message board championship we are trying to win?

I knew exactly where you were going with that. He's not saying any certain players should go... he's saying a few guys should be brought in to help. EVERY SINGLE player on his team SHOULD agree with him. Unless they are happy with missing the playoffs. I don't see him disrespecting anyone.

His blog...
"You can't argue with how the Patriots went outside their locker room and stocked up on playmakers last year. It certainly helped to have Randy Moss, Donté Stallworth, Wes Welker and Adalius Thomas making plays for them all year.

"I'm surprised that anyone would have a problem with me, or anyone else in the organization, expressing a desire to bring in more quality players. We were 8-8. There is room for improvement. This is a competitive sport. It's about putting together the best players, the best team, and giving yourself the best chance to win.

"We didn't disrespect anyone when we traded for Takeo Spikes or signed Kevin Curtis last year. I don't think the Patriots were being disrespectful to Troy Brown or Reche Caldwell when they brought in Moss, Stallworth and Welker. Over the past few years, when the 49ers added Nate Clements, the Seahawks added Julian Peterson, the Giants added Plaxico Burress, the Colts added Adam Vinatieri, it was in an effort to add playmakers. In each case the team identified a way to improve and they took action.

"I don't think that's being disrespectful to any of my teammates. It's certainly not my intention. I bet that anyone who wants to see the Eagles win - from Mr. Lurie, to the entire locker room, to every Eagles fan who bleeds green would agree."

This happened in Carolina right after the season ended. It was just in a news conference, but Fox and Delhomme said they needed playmakers.

I dont think its a big deal at all. Favre lobbied Green Bay to get Moss all last off season. The QB who is also a team leader shouldn't be afraid to call out players that aren't trying/producing.

As much as he is stating the obvious, it can't really do too much to create animosity on the team. I'm pretty sure that if a player is lackluster than he knows it. And spots are never guaranteed, there's always one player that could replace you.

It just makes mcnabb look like a dick almost, for saying the problem was elsewhere.

McNabb probably doesn't even write the blog.
