Billy Irwin vs Marco Perez at the Blue!

Billy “the kid” Irwin to Headline Blue Horizon Show!

Philadelphia, PA - Professional Boxing returns to the Legendary Blue Horizon on Friday November 19, 2004 in Philadelphia, PA, as former world title challenger Billy “the kid” Irwin, 42-5 (33 KO’s), will square off against Marco “Angel” Perez, 20-6 (14 KO’s) in a 10 Round Lightweight battle.

Irwin (42-5 33 Ko’s) returns to the Blue Horizon for the first time in nearly four years since dropping a 10 round decision to Dorin Spivey back in June of 2001. Since then he has gone 8-0 with 6 of those victories coming by way of knockout. Irwin’s most recent test was a ninth round Ko win over tough veteran Lou Bizzaro back in July. “I always received a great deal of support whenever I fought in Philadelphia stated Irwin. “I’m excited about returning to Philadelphia so that I can erase the memory of my last fight I had there with Spivey”. Irwin, ranked 10th in the world by the WBA must first get by the durable Marco “Angel” Perez if he has any hopes of getting another crack at a world title.

Marco “Angel” Perez (20-6-14 KOs) would like to wear a championship belt himself one day, and a win over Irwin will put him one step closer to a possible title shot. Perez, having faced the likes of Luisito Espinosa, Humberto Sosa and Yoni Vargas, will have to bring his experience to the table when facing Irwin, a veteran who has scored 33 ko’s in 42 fights.

In an eight round co-feature, local favorite Jameel Wilson (13-6 8ko’s) will square off against former WBO Middleweight Champion Lonnie Bradley (29-1-1 23ko’s). There will also be a six round super middleweight battle between Philadelphia prospect Lajuan Simon (7-1-1 4ko’s) facing off against tough veteran Ronald Boddie (13-25-4 6ko’s) of Philadelphia.

There will be a total of six bouts on the card, which will feature many up and coming Philadelphian fighters. Tickets are priced at $60, $44 and $38 and are on sale now at the Blue Horizon Box-Office.
