AAFL - All American Football League
This looks pretty cool. A new outdoor football league is starting this April, starting with just six teams.
Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas. The teams are starting out with mostly players who played college in those states. So obviously, i'm a big Michigan fan right off the bat. Players like Chris Leak is a QB for Florida, and Peter Warrick will be a WR, with Shane Matthews as their coach. They will have their draft Jan. 26th. I hope this league gets some TV time. All American Football League Michigan vs. Tennessee on opening day Rusty. ![]() Last edited by BtownJay; January 14th, 2008 at 11:27 AM. |

Vols ex-QB Andy Kelly will be our coach. I saw him play arena football just a couple of years ago.
Jay,we both have 100,000 plus seat stadiums. I hope they can draw a crowd. Not sure If I'm gonna go or not. I guess it depends who the players are. |

They will be adding new teams as time goes by. 2 more next year. I wonder how that NY/NJ team would be with all their great colleges. hahaha. They could do a "tri-states" team... adding PA would add Pitt and PSU players.

this could be tough for the CFL - since we primarily get the not ready for prime time footballers (and those too small to make the cut in the NFL), methinks the potential talent pool for CFL teams just shrunk. Maybe the CFL's best chance is to become an official feeder league for the NFL; might make sense because it basically already is anyway.

AAFL was the name of the league in "Any Given Sunday." Are these guys playing for the Pantheon Cup too?
EDIT: According to Wikipedia, the league in the movie was actually the AFFA. Sorry. Wishful thinking I suppose. Last edited by AndyC0803; January 14th, 2008 at 02:00 PM. |

lol, yes, those teams would match-up well with Florida, FSU, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan, Michigan St, etc. However, there is a draft where teams can pick players from other areas. NY/NJ would have to draft well.
There really should be a California team. USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, etc. I'm sure they could field a great team. |

uh, wouldn't all the true talent players from Florida, FSU, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan, Michigan St, etc. end up in the NFL, leaving the 2nd or 3rd tier players from those schools available, while the smaller schools in the tri state area may have 1st or 2nd tier players, could be kept competative.....

Hopefully this lasts awhile, I think I still have NY/NJ hitmen shirts that were never properly broken in by the time the xfl collapsed.
