Marion Barber trade rumors

Ok, I got home from work late last night to calls from friends (ok people I know who have my number, we all know I haven't any friends) who watched last evenings PTI where the third topic discussed is a rumor at this point that the Boys & Dolphins are in talks about the dolphins #1 pick for Barber and the boys #1 pick.

I was hoping to find something on here, or elsewhere detailing this rumor but came up empty, I'd be interested in hearing any input here from anyone who's heard the show, or saw any other links I could check out.

Since the wife got me a great Barber jersey for the holidays, and since a smile comes on my face every time he touches the ball, I'm positive this trade will happen to add to my overall bitterness.

This actually makes sense on a lot of levels..
1. Jerry still likes Bill so dealing with him is tolerable
2. While Barber is most certainly a fan favorite, there is still a question of if he is an every down back.
3. Jerry is ex-Razorback and would no doubt LOVE to have this guy on the team.
4. The 'Boys have two number 1 picks, giving up one or both for McFadden is doable.
5. The fins want to deal. Parcells most likely wants to go defense first.

Just know this, Jerry has never stood pat on draft day. He is always moving something.

I don't like it, as much as some could say Barber might not be an every down back, we're going to trade that unknown for a back who's never carried in the NFL? And nothing says he has to be an every down back, there will be a ton of talent available for a speed back comparable or better than JJ to compliment him. I'd hate to see our offensive dynamic mixed up because of one guy who has great "potential".

Agreed. I'd much prefer the 2 first rounders for him straight up and continue the two headed monster approach. But 22 and 28 for #1... doubtful.

i like barber...the boys would be smart to stick with there picks...the draft is deep...the boys could get a cb like aliq talib(sp) from kansas to sure up that spot and then have alot of options with the other pick...they could go speed back like felix jones(the other arkansas rb) or pick up a o-lineman like gosder cherulius(sp) who's stock is dropping which will allow him to be picked late round 1..in round 2 they could easily get a first round talent wr possibly like mario manningham, adarious bowman or they can wait till round 3 and get a guy like harry douglas from louisville..the rb draft is so deep, they are saying steve slaton could be there in round 3...a great compliment to barber...the smart move would be to stand pat with the picks...just my opinion

no way the cowboys get rid of Barber, he is too valuable to their future, Jones will go first

I think that it is a foregone conclusion that Jones is gone. If I'm not mistaken, he is a FA this year and I'm sure that he'll test the market.

he is unrestricted...jones is restricted but the tender period hasn't occurred yet..i'm sure they will offer him the max so that in case he leaves they get a 1st and 3rd
