Reflections on the Pats season:
With the benefit of hindsight now I'll look back on the accomplishments of this team who so narrowly missed a legitimate claim at the best team of all time:
1. Bill Bellicunt Coach of the year: found a way to win games through running up the score, cheating, and by getting gift interceptions in each close game late to seal it. 2. Tom Brady MVP: The stats demanded this, he was unconscious for most of the season, had amazing passer ratings, never threw pics it seemed, and led a record breaking offense. 3. Tom Brady Most TD passes in a season: Quite a few came during questionable calls running up the score, that said, Peyton didn't win the ring when he set the mark, nor did Marino when he set the mark Peyton broke. 4. Most team points in a season (ran through the 98 vikings record where the vikings also that year did not end with a ring after losing a tough ot game) 5. Most regular season wins ever, again topping the 15-1 vikings (another Randy Moss team) and possibly others I can't remember, impressive. 6. Randy Moss - Most TD catches in a season (least impressive record in my humble opinion due to the following 1a. Moss needed some run up the score td's to add to his total, and as impressive as his 4 in what I think was 1 half were, it took him all of 16 games to break by one a record Rice set in only 12 games all the while playing for the record breaking offense and getting the ball from a QB possibly having the best season on record. In hindsight it seems the Pats may want to let mr. Moss pursue his free agency as now he carries a curse of dominance leading right up until it counts. He was basically a no show during the playoffs, and in the games leading directly into them. There is no doubt he is a talented player, but those claiming greatness find a way to get it done in clutch situations, not just during a regular season win at Buffalo in November. |

Moss = the a-rod of the pats?
Sure he didn't show up in the post season but he was getting a lot of attention. Its also partially the other receivers' faults as well. If other receivers were getting more attention they would have to stop doubling Moss. But thats not to belittle Welker, he had a great season. |

problem is, teams were reportedly choosing to stop moss and make the others beat them, I didn't really see that in the playoffs, Moss was subjected to a bit of bump n run, and occassional coverage, but it was far from every defense just keying in on him making him incapible of being a factor. He's one of the greatest speed receivers capible of stretching the field ever, but it would seem at this point in his career, a bit of zone safety help rolled over the top completely takes that away. If only teams figured this out in week 8 instead of week 14 Jerry would still have the record he so rightly deserves.
I can't put Moss with arod, marbury, and others who's teams perform better after the key player is gone, since he's been on two amazing seasons, and was a huge part of the pats record breaking offense when no one could figure them out; it's just that he's now been a part of a 15-1 team that didn't win a ring, and a 16-0 team that didn't win a ring. |

a little weiner with his name in the super bowl record books now, I have to say he produces consistantly even though I loathe the fact that he runs pretty much the same route all game and has mastered the curtis martin fall when defenders are around or you might get hit move.

For some reason the "scrappy little white guys" have always annoyed the hell out of me; Joe McEwing, David Eckstein, Wayne Chrebet, etc. I just want to see them get broken in half.

haha, I can completely understand what your saying. There is something about the way he looks on the field that gives me the impression that he's being sneaky and running away from people

i hate welker but he catches everything and complements moss perfectly...they had an amazing season but clearly they needed more videotaping of the giants to pull that game out on sunday

what I gathered from it is a comparison coming up with the conclusion that the Steelers dynasty in the 70's was more impressive than the current Pats run. I agree, and did so before reading the migraine inducing page.

I've always loved those 70's Steelers. They are in my opinion the best football team of all time.
