AP: U.S. to shoot down errant satellite - CNN.com

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Pentagon is planning to shoot down a broken spy satellite expected to hit the Earth in early March, The Associated Press has learned.
A missile is launched from the Navy guided missile cruiser USS Shiloh during a 2006 test.





U.S. officials said Thursday that the option preferred by the Bush administration will be to fire a missile from a U.S. Navy cruiser, and shoot down the satellite before it enters Earth's atmosphere.
We can't build a spy satellite that will stay in the air but we can build a missile that will shoot it down?

Its a good idea and they'll be able to do it...we have a program that can do this at anytime...we just have to tread lightly cause we just condemed China not long ago for testing their anti satetlite program.

Yea, I just read about this. What a waste of money and an awkward message sent out to the world.

1. we send up a spy satellite and then it fails upon entering orbit.
2. We then decided to shoot it down after two years

What do you want them to do? We are only deciding to shoot it down because its going to hit us next month. I'd rather not risk it falling anywhere near me. Blast the fucker.
