Floyd Mayweather Jr

Yo Jay, what's up with this?
Mayweather to try wrasslin’ as part of WWE’s WrestleMania

http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slug=ap-wrestlingmayweather&prov=ap&type=lgns

I guess the answer is money....lots of it.

At 5-foot-8, 150 pounds, Mayweather gives up big numbers to the bald Big Show, who stands 7-feet and weighs 430.

Daddy knows way more than I do. But yes, thats all it is, its for money. Not only in this one event... but to become a bigger name to the wresting fans to try to get them to buy his PPV fights as well. He's ALL about the money. Nothing else matters to him.

lol, yep. He threw a 3 punch combo. The last left was a hook and landed directly on the side of his nose.

He is rumored to be getting 20 mil for doing the press etc. The WWE got so much mainstream media coverage with Trump last year they are going to start using real athletes and other figures to draw in a bigger crowd. Word is Mayweather got so much $$ since he already know self promotion and doesnt care if everyone hates him. Basically a natural. Word is Liddel was approached but White won't let anyone under a UFC contract be involved with wrestling, especially the WWE.

Dennis Rodman did a stint at this. So did Bob Probert. I am sure there are others.

I am a big wrestling fan and I'd like to give my two cents:

First of all, I don't think the $20 Million is a real figure. WWE has produced three movies and none of them cost $20 Million so I don't see how they would spend this much money on one guy to make a few appearances and to be in one match. WWE probably released that figure as part of a story. It probably also helps Mayweather save face in the boxing community since $20 Million is a lot for ANYONE to turn down.

Second, this is not just "some wrestling event" but it is Wrestlemania which is the biggest show of the year. It has become a whole weekend spectacle and it generates some good money for whatever city that hosts it. This year it is in Orlando and the mayor was gung-ho about landing the deal. Here is the story.

Finally, so far this storyline has been a real success for WWE as it has generated a TON of "mainstream" press just like the Trump storyline from last year and will continue to do so. The AP has picked up the story as it is now on Yahoo, ESPN, etc. This is going to be a great cross promotional vehicle for all parties since it will likely translate in boxing fans buying a WWE PPV as well as wrestling fans buying a boxing PPV. Whether you watch wrestling or not you've gotta respect Vince McMahon as a promoter and a guy that can grab your attention.

I could see it being a $20 million potential with the majority being based on buy ins for the PPV. But if you figure how much commericals cost to run 6 weeks of major promotions and you can get yahoo, espn to pick it up they might have bit the bullet to get the coverage.

I met him too years ago when he was in a store I worked in at the time.
I think I've mentioned it here before in talking about the she/he/it thing he was with.

HAHAHAHAHA ONE OF THE FUNNIEST THINGS I'VE EVER WATCHED IN MY LIFE

YouTube - WWE NO WAY OUT 2008 MAYWEATHER VS BIG SHOW

1. big show took 3 good shots to the face

2. i've never seen more people run out of the ring so fast as i did after he hit the show

3. mayweather might be able to punch...but show took 3 shots and got up real quick to maul him

4. i don't think it was planned that he should punch him in the face OR mayweather really needs to learn how wrestling works

5. in real life show would eat mayweather alive
