I would have pooped as well.

Anyone see lastnight on Dateline the 10 most horrific accidents or something?

There was a video of a plane crashing in water and people survived.

they don't have enough xanax in the world to deal with that shit, this is exactly why we shouldn't board huge pieces of metal and expect nothing bad to happen when we say fuck gravity and go hurtling through the air.

I'd like to know why they were cleared to land, and how long it was before the guy in the tower got fired.

That's what I was thinking and when I brought it up I was told the pilot still makes the final call to divert? Is that true or does our office "know it all" strike again?

Technically the pilot in command makes the call. He is the one responsible for the well being of the plane and its contents. He should have been better informed about the wind conditions on the ground.

If it were a steady wind, he would have gotten down ok, but that last gust nearly blew the plane over. It had to have been 100 mph gust methinks.

Did both wings touch ground or one?

I would have hated to have the window seat over the wing.

I actually had a landing similar to that once. Granted, it wasn't as bad, and I didn't have 120 passengers on board, but it was bad. Just as I was touching down, a wind gust from out of nowhere damn near blew me over. The wing didn't hit the ground, but it was probably about 6 inches from it.

Instinct took over, and I got it straightened out, but even taxiing was brutal. I eventually put power back in and took off again. It took me about 20 minutes before I was calm enough to attempt another landing. There is truth behind the saying "scared the shit out of me".
