Billy The Kid

Here are a couple Billy The Kid pictures. The one on the left is the only verified picture of Billy. The people who knew him said it was a horrible picture of him, and it has been compared to a modern day drivers license photo. He looks like a dork in it. It has since been destroyed by too many years under fluorescent lights, much like what happens to a person in a cubicle. lol.
The other two are not verified. The one in the middle is (I believe) from left to right, Deluvina Maxwell, Billy The Kid, and Paulita Maxwell. Billy was sweet on Paulita. By the background, you can tell that the photo was taken near Ft Sumner, NM. The one on the right is interesting. There is another picture that goes with it, that is the only (I think) picture of Dirty Dave Rudabaugh. The two were captured at Stinking Springs, NM, and taken to the jail in Las Vegas NM. It is theorized that the two photos were taken in the Las Vegas jail. The backgrounds are the same, so is the camera angle, and the clothing. Rudabaugh was a marked man in Las Vegas, and was attacked by a mob when the two were brought into town. They put him in jail to save his life, basically. In the photo he has a split lip and a cut above his eye. It has also been said that Rudabaugh was the only man Billy ever feared. I have held the photos in my hands and looked at them under a magnifying glass. I have overlapped them on photoshop, and I am convinced these are real pictures of Billy. The only changes to the photos you see that I have made was to reverse them. In the 1800's, photos were mirror images. Also note that Billy is wearing the same pocket watch and chain in each picture. I believe it was something he cherished. He never really made an honest living, so I suspect he won it in a poker game and carried it as a "badge of honor", so to speak. All speculation of course. My friend has about 100 other pictures. Many are of people we don't know, and never will, but they are neat. One last story in this really long post. It is known that Billy and Paulita Maxwell exchanged pictures. One of the pictures my friend has is of Paulita. It was carefully and meticulously folded into thirds, so that it would fit into a shirt pocket. It is neat to think that if it is in fact the very picture that she gave Billy, he treasured it and kept it on his person. Even if it wasn't his, someone loved that picture. Aside from the fold marks, it is in perfect condition. If we can prove the pictures really are of Billy, they are estimated at $200,000 - $300,000 each. He paid $4.50 for them. __________________ Last edited by Shane; March 12th, 2008 at 10:41 PM. |

count me in as 1 who didn't get it
great pics shane i've actually seen the first pic you posted on a history channel or national geographic show that was about the old west...it told the stories of a few of the gunslingers from those days...honestly nothing has changed..if you made that a color picture and cleaned it up and told me it was rusty in his youth, i'd believe it if dirty dave rudabaugh was so tough, why did christian slater play his part in the movie...talk about miscasting! |
