2008 Playoffs – Western Conference
If there is ever an example of parity, it has been the NBA’s West. So many good teams! Anyway, here are my picks:
Conference Champion: Spurs over Hornets in 7 games Sleeper pick - Utah What do you think? |

Sleeper is Dallas. If they draw anyone BUT la in the first round they MIGHT be able to pull out of this tailspin. We'll see...

I'm just praying the Nuggets beat GSW on thursday so they move a game ahead of them for the 8 seed, sure is gut wrenching when its this close.

I'm with you. The Nuggets games are always exciting. With Melo, AI and Martin, they are very good offensively. But they don't know the first thing about playing defense. 140-135 games are possible when they play.

Haha btown did you see when they put up i think 176 points about 2 weeks ago I believe. Then the next night they gave up like 136 i think.

lol, i didn't see the game, just the highlights but that was nuts. I don't remember seeing that many points in one game before. They had 84 points by HALF TIME. But geezus, if they even played a little defense they could be even better.

I think it was Melo's first year or 2nd. They would play terrible defense for 3 quarters and hold almost every team in the final 15 games of the season to 12 or less in the 4th quarter. They would almost always put up 100 and because of their defense just in the 4th they went on a big streak and clinched the playoffs, I would just take one good quarter of defense from the Nuggets per game and we would win quite a few more games then we are doing. Tonight technically the big game for the 8th spot lead.

Who knew that any 8th seed would be capable of winning 50 games, now I know that they (Denver & GSW) are not there yet, but it sure seems that both teams will have that many wins
This is crazy and the biggest game of the year is at 8 PM EST tonight when Denver visits the Warriors. I will be glued to the TV and this will probably be the highest scoring game of the season, both teams will fired up. I am just glad that it is in Oakland |

This game will be fucking nuts, no question about it. It will be interesting because this is a "must win" game for both teams and both of these teams have choked in pretty much every "must win" situation they have had in the past or have lost to horrible teams that a playoff caliber team should not lose to.
GS got clobbered by SA and Dallas back to back last week (two games they needed to win) plus their loss at Denver on 03/29 hurt their post season chances. After tonight they only have one challenge left (at Phoenix) and that is sandwiched in between two games they SHOULD win (home against the Clip Show and home against the Sonics) Denver did well to win that game against GS then they lost at Phoenix (a game they needed to win) on the front end of a home and home but won the next night, which was supposed to be a morale boost. But then they stunk out the joint in back to back losses to the Kings and the Sonics. Their win on Tuesday against the Clip Show was good but tonight is a HUGE game. Their last three games are at Utah, vs Houston, and vs Memphis so Denver better get a head to head win here since I can see them losing these last 3 games. If I had to pick a winner, it would be Golden State since they are at home although I don't that their home court advantage is as good this year as it was last year. I think they have a lot of bandwagon fans this year opposed to the die-hards they had last year. Last edited by AndyC0803; April 10th, 2008 at 04:07 PM. |

well said Andy, shit that was better than some of the writers on ESPN and Sportsline! This is a crucial game and I think you are right when you say that there are a lot of bandwagon fans this year. It is a shame that one team with this many will not make the playoffs and the Eastern conf is so weak this year.
Too bad they dont seed teams like they do in the NCAA tourney |

Who's your daddy?.... AI's your daddy.
Talk about zero depth, the Warriors got 7 points off the bench. Thats terrible. |

That was a very fun game to watch...until the 4th quarter when GS couldn't hit a shot. Needless to say, they will probably miss the playoffs and rightfully so.
The Warriors' biggest problem was on display last night; thier lack of depth. Denver was able to win because they got great production from their bench players because they have played so much this year. Golden State's starters have logged a ton of minutes this year and they have been wearing down coming to the end of the season. Denver played well last night and they looked good. I don't see them making it out of the first round of the playoffs though. |

Yeah the warriors played like shit when Denver switched to the zone and their bench sucked, no depth. If they cannot win games like this, then they don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
Congrats on a good win by the Nuggets |
