College Baseball
Anyone really a big follower of College Baseball? Just thought I might start a little discussion of who people think might make it to Omaha being it hit the half way point after this weekend.
My take would be 1.Miami (26-2) 2.Arizona St (28-3) 3.North Carolina (25-6) 4.Florida St (28-3) 5.Wichita St (24-4) 6.UC Irvine (20-5) 7.South Carolina (20-10) 8.Nebraska (24-4-1) (obviously biased right there but they have been playing well above what I have expected this season so far, so I'll toss them in there) If anyone cares about College Baseball what are your thoughts thus far on the season and who do you think will make the trip to Omaha? |

I love the college world series. I follow it from regionals all the way through the final 8 every year. However, i dont' really follow it through out the regular season. Teams I like seeing in Omaha...
Arizona St., N. Carolina, Cal St. Fullerton, LSU, Texas, Michigan And hopefully someone other than Oregon St. wins it this year. They aren't in your top 8... having a down year? |

I think rutgers lost a some good pitching ssigs.
and Btown to answer your question about Oregon st they really struggled early, they have been playing better as of late but I just don't see them making it to omaha if they don't host a super regional. Nebraska is currently 24-4-1 best start after 29 games I believe since 04-05 when we got our first CWS win, I just hope the team doesn't get to overconfident, they don't hit the ball the greatest but their pitching has been phenomenal and i swear its always a new clutch hitter to win a close game every time for us. |

Oh and if you guys can make the CWS it is an event you have to go to at least once in your lifetime, I'm from Omaha so I have the luxury of getting there a lot and no matter who's playing the atmosphere is electric.

Elismoke (ranter not seen much) and I have been dreaming about getting there one of these years. Sadly, we are too poor to make it there any time soon... its one of those things on my list of "must do before you die".

You should really try to get there before they tear down Rosenblatt and build the new stadium, the atmosphere around the park alone will make you want to stay there for the entire week. Everyone especially the LSU fans are always inviting people over for free food and beer then you get into the stadium and get to watch some great college baseball. I'm not sure when the new stadium will be built I think 2012 or 2013 whenever the CWS expires and we get a new contract hopefully. If you've ever been to the CWS in Omaha you will realize why it should never leave Omaha and if it does it would be a terrible mistake by the NCAA. |

Crap, didn't know they were tearing down Rosenblatt... thats a huge reason in itself to go, i'll have to get there before that.
Hmmmm... Google tells me it's an 18 1/2 hour drive from here. |
