I said this back in this little rant:
Barry Zito - A Complete Waste of Money What a way to start a year: 0-6, ERA 7.53 and has been getting shelled. And Bruce Bochy said: "It's good sometimes just to back off," Bochy said. "It's happened to a lot of great players, position players and even pitchers. We just felt at this point it's time for him to sit back, miss a start and help us in the pen." He Should have said: "He sucks shit and I would like to slap everyone in management for signing him," Bochy said. "What a complete fucking waste of money." |

It certainly could but at least he's not a "bust" considering the reason he got the offer he did, not like an NFL player that just gets it based on the possibility he could be good at the next level, however the giants did offer what almost double what any other team was looking to give him I think.

Post signing the offer he's not lived up to shit, check his stats prior to his big deal 23 game winner 17 game winner 16 game winner...you can't be a bust if you prove your worth get your money and then suck...thats just stupid teams throwing money around hoping he keeps his form (when the signs were already there he wouldn't)

didn't he get progressively worse every year..i really don't know his stats but he never had great stuff and his best pitch, the curveball, got hit hard alot...no way he was worth that much even after all those years
