Euro 2008

basically this is the world cup but with only European teams..this is the hugest tournament for them and something we don't have over here...

for the first time ever...espn will be showing these games live across there networks...including espn classic..if you find yourself bored at any point this weekend, i suggest tuning in...the atmosphere is always electric

the u.s. played spain yesterday in a friendly..it helped spain prepare for euro 2008 and us for world cup qualifying...i think its safe to say after seeing the game that we are nowhere near as good as them and still have a long long way to go to be one of the best

RIP GUNNY

Girls of Euro 2008

So there is some kind of big soccer tournament going on right now but I don't care about that. No, what I care about is the fact that it brings out a ton of young, exotic, and hot Euro babes! Want proof? Then check this out:

final 8 is set and we have some doozies happening

sunday: italy vs. spain

today: portugal vs germany

by far the best matchups of the final 8

here are my predictions

portugal vs. germany - winner germany...as much as i like the portugese side and how they dominated there group, they always choke and who better to lose to than germany..a team that hasn't looked up to par but always shows up in big tournaments...i expect klose to have a big game..i'd happily be wrong on this result

croatia v. turkey - the turks had the best comeback by far this tournament against the czech in a winner take all game..croatia dominated the group and i expect them to win this one and a new star will emerge on the big stage...luka modric

netherlands v russia - i didnt figure on russia beating sweden to get here but the ruskies have guus hiddink..my choice for best international coach in the world..unfortunately they are running into the brick wall that is holland...holland should win this one...i say they win 3-0...somehow van persie scores making gunny happy up there in the big sky on the cloud he's sharing with george best(one of the best players in the history of the game)

spain v. italy - wow..spain went undefeated and italy just got in by beating france in the last game and spain beating romania...but the italians are the reigning world cup champs so no game is a gimme against them...unfortunately i think spain is the better, younger side and despite following the trend of the nation they share a land with(portugal for all you non geography people) i think they pull this game out in a shootout...fabregas as a sub scores the winner(again in tribute to gunny)

Can't get into this Euro stuff. I try, but i find that I really don't care.

But wasn't that a balsy prediction to take Germany over Portugal? I thought Portugal was one of the favorites. I remember when Germany was always one of the top teams, but they have sucked as of late haven't they?

And Klose? I think he's been playing for them since the early 90's.

this is a great tournament..its practically the world cup minus a few teams

it was ballsy in a way cause germany just made it thru and portugal dominate there group...but like i said portugal always chokes and germany is always solid in big tournaments....klose has been around for awhile but not the early 90s

Whoa... Klose is only 30 years old and has only been on the team since 2001. No idea why I thought he was alot older and around longer.

My soccer knowledge = shitty.
