How about none of the above?
Don't think a consistent top 10 but consistent top 25 with appearances in the top 10 yes. |

SPURRIER- SHUT YOUR YAP!
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Still upset about the number of his players arrested recently, Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer jabbed back at an old coaching nemesis who took a dig at the Volunteers' situation. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, who while coaching at Florida routinely poked fun at Tennessee, threw in a comment about the Vols when he was asked about criminal charges being dropped against Gamecocks receiver Syvelle Newton. "I guess at one time somebody accused (Newton) of slapping him or something," Spurrier was quoted as saying in Thursday's edition of the State newspaper. "But this was not a full-blown fight. If you want to read about some full-blown fights, read about the Tennessee players, not our guys. We've not had any knockdown, drag-out fights amongst our players." Eleven Tennessee players have been arrested or cited since February 2004 on various charges, and four players were charged this week with assault stemming from two separate fights on campus. "He needs to take care of his own house and leave mine alone. He's got plenty of issues over there, I'm sure, to deal with," Fulmer said Thursday after practice. "We've had a lot worse things than this that we've gotten through." South Carolina has had nine players arrested in recent months. Spurrier faces Tennessee for the first time as South Carolina coach when the Gamecocks visit Knoxville on Oct.29. One of his most famous jokes was that "You can't spell Citrus without UT," referring to the many times the Vols had to settle for the Citrus Bowl after losing to Florida. "It doesn't bother me one bit," Fulmer said about Spurrier. "Maybe it rained that day and he didn't get to play golf." Fulmer apologized earlier this week to university administrators and fans for the spate of arrests. Quarterback Brent Schaeffer and receiver Bret Smith were suspended from the team Monday after being charged with misdemeanor assault on a fellow student. On Tuesday, defensive end Robert Ayers and linebacker Jerod Mayo were charged with aggravated assault in connection with a fight at a campus party last month that left another student unconscious and with a broken jaw. Ayers was suspended from the team, Fulmer said Thursday, adding that he doesn't believe Mayo did anything wrong.

Both Syvelle Newton and Robert Ayers played for the same high school...Marlboro Co. in S.C. Both were on the team when the now famous Brawl happened between Marlboro and Northwestern high(both of SC).It was even reported on by Dan Rather.Newton is rumored to have been the instigator of the brawl. Also he was in the middle of the Clemson/Carolina fight last season.Ayers was a freshman at the time. By the way Syvelle was arrested for assault on another student, which happened at a party....He did not Assault Steve Spurrior..Seems these Marlboro guys love to fight huh?

Depends on how long Spurrier stays as to how the Cocks will fare. I'd vote on the Championship thing if i knew he was staying for awhile, and he'll probably make them a consistent T25 team. But these are the Gamecocks - they've grasped defeat from the jaws of victory a great many times. Chances are just as good that Spurrier will coach a few years, get fed up with how the program continues to suck and leave.

The question isnt if he can make SC winners ,its can he get the Blue chip players that are required to win aganst the big programs to come to SC?
I think hell yes he can and will. If you were one of those Blue Chip QBs at the super star high scool camp they have in S.Cal every year I think you and your parents wouldnt mind playing for the old ball coach. We forget that it more the parents decision than anything where the Blue Chippers play. Next couple of years he will get a couple of Blue Chip QBs and a couple Blue Chip running backs and etc. etc. and then the games will begin. It damn sure isnt going to happen this year against the big teams.Tenn,Fla,Ga,LSU. Funny thing is there are two Blue Chip QBs playing in the state of SC right now and both throwing over 2000-3000 a year so I dont think he will have to go far there.hahaha BuddyWright Sports |

Yeah,Spurrier will do well if he can keep the state's top HS players in Columbia.
Side note:What part of the Charleston area do you live in? I used to live on James Island and still have family in Mt.Pleasant
