Best College Football Player Is.......
College football fans in gerneral and all those idiot ass broadcasters can rant and rave all they want about White,Peterson or Leinert being the best college football player, but actually the best college football player without a doubt is Reggie Bush of USC.I've had a chance to see all the above mentioned players in action and none of the other three can match what Bush does on an idividual basis, period. He's the most versatile of the group, plays rb,wr and returns punts and/or kickoffs and has the ability to strike paydirt from anywhere on the field everytime he touches the ball.If the Heisman is truely suppose to be awarded to the best collegiate football player in America, then there should be no doubt the the award should go to Bush regardless of his class.

I seen all these players play and just where would USC be without Leinert? Or Oklahoma without White?
Yes Bush is a spectacular player and he showed greatness yesterday but he also showed he knows how to fumble the ball. He runs with the ball hanging to loose. Late in the game he slide down to avoid going out of bounce, well on jook to the left and he probably scores TD, but few plays later he fumbles giving UCLA a chance. Peterson for a freshman is phenonmal. U forgot the QB from Auburn. The best player in football doesn't also win the heisman cause the damn voters generally vote based on the last few games anyway. What kind of defenses did all these players face all year long. Cause White faced like 100+ ranked pass defense in Colorado and threw 2 picks. Bush faced a UCLA defense that gave up over 200 yards a game on the ground. So getting a 100 should have been cake for him. |

They don't give the trophy based on whether or not a rb fumbles the ball because it's a far gone conclusion that a rb is going to fumble the same as a QB is going to throw interceptions,it goes with playing the positions and it doesn't detract from what you've accomplished over the course of the season as it relates to stats and your overall performance.
In most rival games, the underdog is going to play above their heads,of course unless you're Notre Dame or Colorado, and in most cases the games are close regardless of how superior you are to your opponent and that's what UCLA did against USC and also UCLA is a superior team than what Colorado is.Thus OU had a much easier time of disposing of an outclassed and inferior Colorado team than what USC had in the playing of a yearly crosstown rival in UCLA.Thus, the task that Bush faced was for difficult than what Peterson had to face in a non-resistant Colorado defense,so the 100+ yards that Bush gained and the couple TD's was adequate for the type of competition that he faced. As great as Peterson is,it should also be remembered that OU has to remove him from games on passing downs because the doesn't possess the pass catching ability that Bush does and that's what separates the two, because Bush is even used as a slot and/or wr in certain offensive sets and which is why Bush is the better all around and more versatile rb. |

but you know voters will look at Peterson only being freshman. can hurt him, can be an advantage to him.
White wins it just cause he won it last year and put up pretty the same type of numbers. I just don't know why USC doesn't use Bush more. Maybe he can't take the wear and tear running the ball more. Seemed like he was on the sidelines more than he was in the game. I really think Leinert should win it cause he had a great season, USC went 12-0 and ontop of that lost one the best WRs in college football in Williams because he declared himself for the draft. |

I agree that Leinert will probably win it and I hope that he does, because what is this about White's ninth year at OU,fuckin guy is almost 25 yrs. old,he's been hanging around forever,it's like he's been trying to make a career out of being a college QB,thus I don't care who wins it as long as he doesn't.

I was happy to see anyone but White win it.
Gotta keep Archie going as the only two-time winner. ![]() |

I don't see how that detracts from anything he did at the collegiate level.

When he kicks the shit out of USC in the big one, that's all the honor he wants. He's already won every indivdual honor there is to win, now he's going to win the national championship. BTW, I don't see White being all that at the next level, but you never know. Last edited by OriginalBob; December 13th, 2004 at 07:39 PM. |

Kinda what White's going to do. No White won the Maxwell and Unitas awards. I don't think a QB can win the award for the best RB. Better an orange in the mouth, than foot!!! Last edited by OriginalBob; December 13th, 2004 at 09:39 AM. |

I have to agree that Bush was probably the best player. (Did I just agree with Raider????)
Leinart, as does White, does a great job of getting the ball to his superior talent. Bush makes plays. Without Bush, suc probably loses at least two games. White is definitely the offensive, if not for the entire team, leader for ou. Having a guy like Peterson and the WR's he has surely helps. I know I'll get trashed for this, but Leinart and White are more game managers for their teams, whereas Bush and Peterson, particulary Bush because he catches passes more than Peterson does, makes plays almost on their own once they get to the open field. Believe me, it hurts to give credit to a Trojan, but I have to be fair. |

Where would OU and USC be w/o their QBs?? Where would they be w/o their RBs?? I think Leinart and White are the heart of their respective teams. I think both teams lose atlea |
