Scott Niedermayer is ready to announce whether he'll play one more season, and this time the Anaheim Ducks hope the star defenseman sticks with his decision one way or the other. Niedermayer's agent, Kevin Epp, on Wednesday, said his client plans to inform the Ducks whether he'll come back prior to the NHL Draft in Ottawa on Friday.

The NHL is threatening to kick the owners of the New York Rangers out of the league as punishment for accusing league officials of violating antitrust laws.

The NHL filed court papers Wednesday that included a draft letter from commissioner Gary Bettman proposing discipline against Madison Square Garden, L.P. that could lead to suspension or termination of its ownership of the Rangers.

In its court filing, the NHL asked a judge to agree Madison Square Garden breached its contract by challenging league rules.

Madison Square Garden sued the NHL in September, saying it violated antitrust laws by monopolizing control of team promotions. A judge ruled in November that the league seemed within its rights to take control of the team's Web site.

I don't get it... why would we suck it? If he does re-sign then they are losing other players. They already agreed to trade the rights of Malone to Columbus, but Malone told Columbus that he would test the free agency market either way. So that didn't go through.

They can't re-sign everyone, thats 100% a fact.

Not to mention that Hossa isn't even around right now... they are going to make him an offer, but he hasn't said anything about it yet. The "rumors" are people guessing.

Marian Hossa told the Pittsburgh Penguins he intends to test the NHL free agent market, and the star forward expects to attract lucrative offers once bidding begins July 1.
