Canucks claim F Wellwood off waivers (AP)
The Vancouver Canucks claimed forward Kyle Wellwood off waivers on Wednesday in an effort to bolster an offense that struggled to score last season. The 25-year-old Wellwood is coming off a disappointing season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and they were unlikely to offer the restricted free agent a qualifying offer to retain his rights.
