Canucks acquire RW Bernier from Sabres (AP)
The Canucks acquired right wing Steve Bernier from the Buffalo Sabres on Friday in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2009 NHL draft, and a second-round selection in 2010. Bernier was acquired by Buffalo at the trade deadline in late February as part of the deal that sent all-star defenseman Brian Campbell to San Jose.

16th overall pick when he was drafted. I don't know why they gave up on him like that.

He reported to 2006 training camp out of shape, then underachieved last season before being traded. But still Buffalo traded for him. |

I don't know.
 He's a RFA this season, and has no contract. Maybe Buffalo didn't like how the contract talks were going. He's really shown nothing in his 3 years in the league. Buffalo got a 2nd and 3rd for him, probably didn't feel like paying him all that much money and wanted to use cap room elsewhere. |

They were saying that nobody,free agent wise,wants to sign with Buffalo right now,so it could be Bernier let it be know he'd rather play elsewhere.

I thought about that too Rusty, not many would want to go play there unless you either have won it and are looking for lots of loot or just get a sick ass contract to play and the money makes it worth it.
