Cubs vs. Red Sox at the All Star Game

With Leather says it best:
Quote:
As part of Yankee Stadium's swan song, it will host this month's MLB All-Star Game, where the hated Red Sox will put four starters in the field and a total of seven players in the home clubhouse. I'm so conflicted: the Yankee spite is delicious, but I hate to see it come at the hands of Red Sox Nation.
The AL's starting lineup, determined by fan voting, will include 1B Kevin Youkilis, 2B Dustin Pedroia, OF Manny Ramirez, and DH David Ortiz. Seems pretty fair to me, but then I don't pay attention to stats or -- what's the word I'm looking for here? -- care, so maybe my opinion should be taken with a shaker of salt.
Over in the National League, Cubs fans proved that they can be almost as annoying and domineering during a good season for the team as Boston fans are, selecting three Cubbies to the starting nine: outfielders Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome, and catcher Geovany Soto. Geovany? Sounds like the biggest wop catcher since Piazza. And they both play baseball, too!
Well, I'm definitely not going to watch this game. Call me a homer if you must but when Lance Berkman is named a starter over Albert Pujols you know something is seriously fucked up.

"Seriously fucked up"???

Berkman = .349 Av, 22 HR's, 69 RBI's, 74 R's, 12 SB, SLG% .667, OB% .436, OPS 1.103

Pujols = .350 Av, 18 HR's, 48 RBI's, 45 R's, 2 SB, SLG% .624, OB% .471, OPS 1.094

With similar fielding stats (Edge in fielding goes to Al)

Berkman definitely deserves it. Pujols is also worthy, but so it goes. Ortiz is has been out for around 35 games and can't play.

No question that Berkman is having a very nice year. But Pujols is the most dangerous hitter in the NL and in the prime of his career. If he was injured or having a down year that would be one thing but he's not.

Frankly, the vast majority of fans are idiots and to let them vote on the game that determines home field advantage for the the World Series is insanse.

so he should start cause of what he's done in the past and not this year..this year he's behind berkman...berkman deserves the nod..just like derek jeter doesn't deserve to start and papi shouldn't even be on the team at all

Exactly right ssigs. Yeah Ortiz is the dumbest vote on the team.

So let the home run derby determine home field and the all star game determine pants over or under the socks.

I still think Pujols is the better player. Berkman's numbers are better because of a couple of reasons. He got extremely hot early, and has sense not been quite as hot as he was, and also add in the fact that Albert Pujols missed 13 games due to injury, just to remind you how good he is after a 15 day DL stint in his first game back he went 4-4.

I fear Albert Pujols about 100000000 times more than I fear Lance Berkman at the plate, but what can you do, even though Pujols was hurt you still have to go by the numbers so Berkman gets the nod, but I still would rather have Pujols starting.
