Jackets sign C Umberger to 4-year deal (AP)

The Columbus Blue Jackets signed center R.J. Umberger to a four-year contract Monday. The Blue Jackets acquired Umberger and a draft pick from the Philadelphia Flyers on June 20, in exchange for two draft choices. In three years and 228 games in the NHL, he has 49 goals and 67 assists, all with Philadelphia.

I've heard its 4 years, $15mil. $3.75mil per year.

Columbus shouldn't be all THAT horrible this year actually.

Yeah,especially if Pascal plays like he did last year but stays a little more healthy in net for them.

Good for RJ, not sure if that is a little more than he deserves but glad to see him get a nice deal.

I thought the same thing. I can't really say its all that much more than he's worth. Maybe a bit. But if he turns into a good 1st or 2nd liner, then he may be a steal 2 to 3 years from now.

I think the potential is certainly there and he'll get every opportunity to show all he's got I think on that team.
