Quake shakes S. California; no injuries reported

LOS ANGELES - A strong earthquake shook Southern California on Tuesday, causing buildings to sway and triggering some precautionary evacuations. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

I experienced a moderate one in Japan in 1980, maybe a 4.0 if I remember correctly. It was strong enough to knock pictures of of walls and for you to feel the building move. The duration was only about 7-10 seconds but that was long enough to get your attention.

MILFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a northern New Jersey community experienced a 2.1 magnitude earthquake Monday.
The earthquake was reported around 11:20 a.m. in the Milford Borough area in Hunterdon County, according to the county Department of Public Safety's Division of Emergency Management.
