Western Conference
Both teams have recently made a splash in the off-season, the Hornets picking up James Posey and the Rockets getting Ron Artest in a trade. The Hornets were able to put up the second best record in the west and took the Spurs to 7 games, and now have increased their bench strength and defense with Posey.
The Rockets had a 22 game win streak, a lot of them without Yao Ming even in the line up, and have now added another defender to a team that already played stifling defense. So the question is does it put either of those teams over the top in dealing with the Lakers or Spurs, or will the the Rockets somehow still lose in the first round. The Lakers who were impressive already should have Bynum back, who was playing like a beast before he got hurt and will have a crazy trio with Him, and Kobe. The Spurs, well they're the Spurs and will always be right there as long as Tim Duncan is around. Plus the Jazz and Suns are always right there too. Did the west just become even more stacked, and who comes out on top. Yeah I know its early for bball but well I'm bored. And I wanted to bring the Clips into the discussion for adding Baron Davis and Marcus Camby, but when they lost Elton Brand they did nothing but break even really. the rockets picked up a solid player in artest if he performs to his best..i don't think it puts them over the top..i still think they aren't a deep enough team and there guards leave a little to be desired..plus tmac and ming are always hurt
i like what the hornets are doing..they should be a force in the west the clips will always be the clips |
