Rams' Jackson misses workout, holdout continues

Steven Jackson's holdout is headed for the two-week mark, and it appears little or no progress is being made.

Ooops SJ!
According to NFL rules, a player must be in camp 30 days before the start of the regular season or risk losing an accrued season of experience and eligibility for free agency.

I read that... can anyone tell me what that actually means? This is the first i've heard of this coming up. Wouldn't that have affected Russell last season?

I'm not sure about that rule either...seems odd and I don't recall anyone actually having that issue. A tidbit from the article describes something a little different which makes more sense to me.

If Jackson's holdout creeps into the regular season, he must report no later than between the eighth and ninth regular-season games to fulfill his contract. At that point, he would be eligible to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent in March 2009.

to qualify to become like a 10 and 5 guy or whatever it is in football..you need to be actively part of the team for a certain amount of time to be considered accrued for free agency and the nfl pension plan

Haha, remember when you savages told Gunny (RIP) that kickers were the most important... so he took one in round 1.
