MIZZOU!

Do the Tigers look good so far this season or what? And the schedule really is a benefit to us this year. The only “big” games we have this year are at Nebraska, at Texas and against KU in Kansas City. I don’t want to jinx it but a lot of people think we will be 6-0 when we travel to Texas. The only way we would play OU this year is if we both make it to the Big XII Championship game so that’s good at least.

Has anyone else seen them play??

Well since you wanted my opinion Andy.

Huskers win 42-10..... Ok now being serious.

I think if the Huskers can be at full strength in the secondary, currently have 2 or 3 injured that could be splitting time at least. I think the opposition passing stats look so good against us because we have hardly played 2 deep at every position in the secondary like Bo seems to want to.

I think Chase Daniel, Coffman, and Maclin alone are good enough to beat the Huskers but if they can contain Coffman or Maclin and hold the other to minimal big plays they should be alright.

I think the fact that it is at Memorial Stadium will be a big boost, especially if we go into the game undefeated. Last year we had just come off one of the ugliest wins in the history of Nebraska football. (that I remember). Actually I take that back we beat Ball St 41-40 *pukes* and beat iowa St the following week before we got trounced by missouri.

But the thing is if we beat Va Tech and can contain Tyrod from running that will be only another positive this year for the Nebraska defense. I was reading an article and it stated that the opposition scored 56 of 61 times when reaching the red zone against the Huskers last year.

This year the Huskers opposition has scored 8 times out of the 14 attempts. Not to mention (although it was vs New Mexico St) we stopped them 3 consecutive times in teh redzone thanks to 2 pass interference calls.

Ok now onto my prediction. If the Huskers can contain the big plays they will have success defensively, they will not shut Missouri's offense down, but if they can force them to sustain long drives and play stout in the red zone again then it will be good news for the Huskers.

I think our offense will show a little more vs Va Tech and even more vs Missouri, I don't think Shawn Watson (OC) has showed everything he possibly could yet, just kind of keeping things under wraps. I think we will take some chances down field and with a deep threat like Niles Paul (IMO at least) we could have some success. The main thing is that Nebraska needs to be able to run the ball and well at that. They showed a lot more success last weekend, but we haven't played a good defense yet.

If Nebraska can do what I stated they will be in the game til the end, but I see Missouri taking this one, although I tried to slip my rose colored glasses on to get Nebraska the win.

But I think it is closer than many assume.

My guess something along the lines of....

38-31, or maybe even (hopefully) a little lower scoring because that would be Nebraska's best chance to win (IMO) 28-24.

But I give the edge to missouri by a 5-10 point margin.

What about you Andy how do you see it playing out...... Also don't sleep on Turner Gill , he makes great things happen, don't lose on a hail mary . Good luck to you though. And if you do happen to win the North barring a Nebraska north champ, please go undefeated and make the National Title game, cause everyone knows that Oklahoma has been a failure in the BCS games as of late.

I think our offense is even more loaded than people realize. Daniel, Coffman, and Maclin get all the pub but this team has more weapons than just those three:

Jared Perry - #2 on the team in receiving yards and #3 in receptions. Super fast WR.

Derrick Washington - leads the team with 7 total touchdowns, Sophomore RB will only get better as the season moves on. Maybe the most overlooked part of the Tigers offense this season but don't expect that to last as I'm sure he will get a lot of notoriety by year's end.

Tommy Saunders - The other big play receiver on this team, Junior WR is averaging about 14 YPR and also has good speed. Caught two TDs against Illinois.

Jimmy Jackson - Change of pace RB, able to get yards in big chunks.

As for my prediction, well, Nebraska used to kick the shit out of us every year and it was humiliating. Last year's win at Mizzou did a lot to exorcize some of those demons but there's no way that it got them all. Look for Mizzou to be way up for this game and looking to put a hurt on Nebraska of epic proportions. Final score; 42-25 Mizzou.

You really think Bo will let it get that ugly though? I know its a completely different team from 03, but Brad Smith killed the Huskers, Chase isn't as mobile as he was but the Huskers lost that game IMO, because Mizzou had 3 TD's that were 40 yard drives or less I believe. But like I said I still think Missouri wins just think it will be close and hope it will be close because it will show me that Bo knows how to adjust something Cosgrove never did as Chase Daniel called the Huskers out by saying it was like playing a "high school defense". Which I hope ticked off a few of the Husker defenders.

One thing I have noticed this year is that the Huskers defense never give up on plays, that is definitely a big positive compared to last year, when we had cry baby Corey Mckeon starting at MLB.

I think you can scheme all you want but unless there is some talent to execute then the scheme doesn't mean much. This isn't exactly the blackshirts of the 90s that's playing in Lincoln these days.

They really did. I think that Mizzou took them lightly and it almost cost them. Two years ago, that is the type of game we would lose. Maybe the culture really has changed. I hope so.

Anyway, Mizzou @ NU on Oct 4th has been moved to a night game and will be on ESPN. Obviously I'm hoping for a huge ass kicking, the kind that will be good for Mizzou recruiting purposes.

Daniel, Weatherspoon and Goodman Named Big 12 Football Players of the Week

Hey, how about this?
Quote:
Chase Daniel (Missouri), Sean Weatherspoon (Missouri) and Aric Goodman (Colorado) have been named Big 12 Conference Football Players of the Week as selected by a media panel. Daniel (offense) earned his sixth weekly accolade while Weatherspoon (defense) and Goodman (special teams) were honored for the first time.
Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
Chase Daniel, Missouri, QB, Sr, Southlake, Texas
Chase Daniel was 36-of-43 for a career-high 439 yards in the Tigers’ 42-21 win over Buffalo. He set the Big 12 single game record for consecutive pass completions with 20 during one stretch. Daniel’s completion percentage (83.7) set an MU single-game record for a minimum of 30 attempts. He also became the fifth player in Big 12 history to compile 10,000 career yards of total offense, finishing the game with 10,356. The Southlake, Texas senior upped his active streak of passes without an interception to 131, dating back to his only miscue of the season – in the second quarter against Illinois on Aug. 30th.
Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Sean Weatherspoon, Missouri, LB, Jr, Jasper, Texas
Sean Weatherspoon made a career-high 20 tackles, including three for loss in Mizzou’s win over Buffalo. Weatherspoon is tied for first in the Big 12 and ranks third nationally averaging 12.0 tackles per game. He also leads the conference and is tied for fourth in the nation with 2.0 tackles for loss.
Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Aric Goodman, Colorado, PK, So, Cherry Hills Village, Colo.

He was awarded a scholarship after the game by Coach Dan Hawkins. For the year Goodman has hit 3-of-4 field goals and all 11 PATs.

Oh man if Nebraska wins this weekend it is shaping up to be a really BIG GAME. 8pm CST on ESPN. Man I'm already getting pumped the only thng that can slow me down is if the blackshirts don't slow down tyrod taylor.

If we lose to Va Tech though I think we will be in a little bit of trouble because unless Tyrod grows and arm that can throw accurately we should not lose this game. Stop the run and you should beat Va Tech.

Hopefully they stay undefeated, if they do, do you think Gameday Comes to Lincoln Andy?

One game I know that
