Just wanted to get a census from the rest of you to think what you guys thought about this quarterback and does he have what it takes to play in the pros. Now I know he will get drafted, probably a really low round pick, but he has had an unreal college football career

It depends on what the QB class is like this year. He has put up incredible numbers for a 1-A team, so he must get a look, but so far people are saying he's too short.
If he gets drafted, I don't think it'll be before the sixth round. Here's some rankings: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=102&p=9&c=12&nid=83&pid=10 Last edited by KP; December 27th, 2004 at 08:53 PM. |

I read some of those articles on scout.com and they were very interesting, thanks for the link! The only thing that I can say about his size is, 6'2" is not that small! He is tough and is known for his work ethic. I say, after reading that site and a few others along the way, he will go 4th or 5th round

Mike's right, 6'2'' isn't too bad for a QB. Hell, Doug Flutie is shorter than that and he turned out to be a halfway decent QB in the NFL. I'd personally like to see Chang play in the NFL. He won't go very high in the draft, and he might be on the practice squad or a third stringer for some team for a couple years, but he could become a decent player.

I was watching the Hawaii bowl the other day and he seemed pretty impressive.
He'll definately get a look, and he probably will end up somewhere. Give him a couple years sitting on a team. |

I would think whoever drafts him will send him to NFL Europe too.

i hate the qb is too short arguement...like if your not 6'5 you can't play the position.....its a cop out....skill and mentality, not size makes the qb....look at ryan leaf...he was tall....i think this guy has a shot if he gets drafted by a team who can't figure out there qb situation...i.e. the cardinals

People like Craig Krenzel and John Navarre were drafted in the 5th and 6th round. I'm sure Chang can sit on a bench somewhere for a few years. He throws a lot of picks, but when you throw that much each game, that's expected.

One of the bios I read on him said it was telling that he set the INT record before he set the yardage record.

Nope, height is a key factor in playing QB, especially in the NFL, unless you got something really special. Most offensive lineman are 6'5 or taller, so to get the ball up into the passing lanes it helps to be tall. Not to take anything away from Flutie but I haven't seen too many qb's perfect the jump pass like Flutie. Michael Vick is only 6'1 or 6'2 but he has those 8 foot long arms and releases over the top every time. I think it hurts him not spotting receivers quicker, and missing linebacker playing underneath the coverage.......
That is not to say just because your 6'5 you can play QB, so the Ryan Leaf thing is another issue all together...... I would be suprised to see Chang go before the later rounds, he is basically Kliff Klngsbury, but shorter.............. |
