Big XII 1-0 for the Bowls. Iowa State

fires the opening volley for the Big XII with a win. Tonight Colorado and Oklahoma State will provide ample beatings making the big XII 3-0.

I've got my tickets for the OSU-OSU game. I'm predicting an OSU win. You heard it here. The big XII goes 7-0 in the bowls. Yeah I said it.

I think you mean 6-1. Colorado is going to lose to UTEP. I GO to Colorado and I'm saying that. UTEP hasn't been to a bowl in... God knows how long. CU is lucky to have a winning record. UTEP will be excited to be in the bowl, Colorado will most likely be apathetic. I'll still be rooting my heart out for CU to win, but I'm predicting that UTEP will step up and win the game.

I should learn to have more faith in my team.

Colorado came back from a 21-13 halftime deficit with a strong second half in the Houston Bowl and defeated UTEP 33-28. It's Colorado first bowl victory since 1999, and gives them an overall record of 8-5 for the season. UTEP, finishing the season 8-4, looks to have a bright future under Mike Price.

WAY TO GO BUFFALOES!!!

Well the Cowboys sure buckled early. I hate it when early turnovers ruin an entire game. That was about as exciting as watching paint dry. The Cowboys literally gave up in the first quarter. Plays like, 3rd and 7 and running out of bounds rather than taking the hit for the extra yard. Donovan Woods played like he had the heart of a girl scout. Does that kid ever scramble or is backwards the only direction he knows how to run ? Further, when you're fading back to pass, it's always best to 'look around' and see what is
behind you.

And the play selection after the OSU fumble was horrific. Mack Brownish. Passing in the red zone 1st and goal. My belief is that in college football and the pros for that matter, anytime you're first and goal, especially if you have to score, you run 4 downs. Keep it on the ground. If you can't make 10 yards or in this case 6, in four running downs, then you deserve to get beat like a drum.

I was worried about the OSU game since I thought they would want to make a statement after what's gone on the past couple of days but I sure didn't think the Cowboys would play like they were retarded. Donovan Woods is just...not ready for prime time. Granted, he's a freshman but his fundamentals suck the bag.

As far as Colorado I initially picked UTEP in my CNNSI pick 'em but changed it because on second thought I considered where UTEP plays and where CU plays. Plus I think Barnett is a hell of a coach and the game was for CU, like OSU, a statement game after a season of controversy. Plus you have that badass kicker. That kid is awesome. End of story.
The punter for UTEP had some game too. 75 yard punt ? Sheesh....

Ahhh well, I'm officially a Donovan Woods hater. He's a heartless gutless bag of mediocrity. He and his brother flashing their 'signs'. I'd have pulled his ass.

What do you mean? UTEP was playing in a fairly similar location to where they usually play. CU had to come down to sea level from ofer a mile high to play this game. I was a little worried they might not be able to adjust because they've had issues at sealevel before.

I agree with you on this one. This was a game that Barnett was saying would be the first game of 2005, and it was therefore very important for the Buffaloes to play well and finish the season strong. They didn't start the game too hot, but they finished it up pretty damned well.

You got that right! Mason Crosby is going to be the best kicker in the country in the next couple years. Unfortunately, he'll lose some credit from the national media because he kicks at altitude. That's just an idiotic excuse. Crosby nailed that 54-yarder today. i believe it was his sixth of the season from 50+ yards.

I was at the game against Iowa State when he kicked that 60-yarder and it was a thing of beauty. It doinked off the upright and through, but if it had been straighter, it would have been good from at least 70. John Thorp, our punter, had a fantastic season too. CU lead the nation in net punting this year.

I meant conference. CU's losses were OU, Texas, aTm and 'the other' OSU and Missouri. Meanwhile UTEP was putzing around in the WAC beating people like TCU, SMU, RICE.... THAT'S why I changed my pic. Because of who CU lost to. There's no shame in losing to OU and Texas or even aTm.

Crosby would be a bad ass kicker in death valley. Period. Barnett is one of the best coaches in college football. Period.

BTW- I moved from Austin to Denver in 1998 and worked for a company called Space Imaging in Thornton, got laid off and moved back to Texas 2 years ago. ( San Antonio ).

I love Denver. One of my favorite cities in the US along with Austin of course, which is possibly the greatest college town in America.

Congrats on your win. Don't go burning any couches now.....

Wreck 'em is all I can say today. Go Tech !!!

PS One more thing about kickers. Dusty Mangum at Texas was like Crosby his freshman year. Nailing 50+ yarders all day long. Then he started missing 25 yarders. Seems to be doing all right now...

Kickers are a strange lot....

Ohh I get it now. You're right, I don't feel ashamed for my Buffaloes losing to Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma. Those are four quality teams and we just got outplayed. Except by A&M. CU had them beat and they just let the game slip away. The loss against Missouri was disappointing because the officials blew a call in the endzone that would have given CU a chance to tie the game.

Oh well. Cest la vie.

I've lived here in Boulder just about all my life. I was here for the 1990 national championship, I've seen plenty of CU games, and I was around for all the riots (though, admittedly, not a part of them in any way shape or form).

Denver and the whole surrounding area really is great, I agree. Not so much today, because it's mega windy and the wind hasn't been very friendly here lately. The view from my balcony is great - the foothills and the Flatirons off to the south. So nice...

We had a really strangely inconsistant kicker a few years ago here at CU. It was the reason they lost the Alamo Bowl to Wisconsin in 2002. He missed a fairly short field goal in OT and the Buffs wound up losing because Wisconsin's kicker didn't suck.

Again, cest la vie.

Unless you count Oregon State beating Notre Dame in their bowl game a couple days ago. I believe Oregon State is still part of the Pac 10.

Congrats to the Vols, unless the aggies make the greatest comeback in bowl history.

Ahhhh...fockin' aggies. I remember why I hate 'em now...

BTW I hate and I mean HATE games that turnovers decide in the 1st 10 minutes. Especially when they do it to themselves. That hit on McNeil was a legit turnover though....

I thought better of the aggies...ok I lied, I hate the aggies but I tried to keep that big XII brotherhood thing going.

If Texas does something like that today I'll be right back on the 'Mack Browns Head' bandwagon.
