Charlotte 49ers
As a student of UNC Charlotte, I wanted to get some outside opininons on the niners.
The Niners play Cincy tomorrow at Cincy. At 3-0, Charlotte is the last undefeated team in CUSA but the Bearcats are 3-1 and the most widely known team in the league. I believe it will be a close game and could come down to free throws and time of posession. Both teams have an excellent chance to win this game. |

Let me first start by saying I have not seen Charlotte this year as of yet. However, just looking over everything they should have a good shot at winning this game. Sure their schedule hasn't been overly tough, but wins over UAB and Indiana are pretty good, where as the loss to Rutgers is not. UNCC has however dominated most of the weaker teams they have played, like they should have. They have depth in scoring with 3 guys avg. over 13 a game, and two more with 8 and 9 per respectively. Plus a 1 point loss to Alabama shows they can hang with some pretty good teams.
If I was betting, i would definitly take Cincy tomorrow however. They have been very solid with their only 2 losses coming against #1 Illinois and on saturday to #14 Louisville. Plus they have 5 guys avg. double figures in points and have good rebounding numbers. The thing that could help UNCC, IMO, is that Cincy doesn't have any size inside. They are just not a big team. Good luck to your boys tomorrow! |

while I agree with BTown
I will say that Cincys strength comes from the lil rasta man Muhammed jihad or whatever his name is, hes quick and really streaky jumpshooter, but its usually a good streak. UNCC will have to overcome a team in Cincy that lost a 17pt lead to a team they really needed to beat(UL), that and home court is gonna hurt ya. Hit em in the mouth early and you got a chance otherwise, the BearCats will pounce.
PS, dont read any bias into this, Im a UK fan, I hate UC, just being objective |

Yea so we won the first half and then didn't show up for the second at all. Again 2 halves of basketball need to be played, and Charlotte would have had a chance for the W. Next up Marquette, hopefully they will play 2 halves there.

The home game vs. Cincy was this weekend. It was a poorly officated game. Lutz got a technical in the first 10 minutes and it still didn't help. The refs were so inconsistant for both sides but gave Cincy a couple more calls. With the win Charlotte moves into a tie for CUSA with Louisville (Charlotte goes there in a week). The loss to ECU a couple of weeks back has hurt their standing in the AP and ESPN polls.
Just wanted to get some thoughts on my college's team. |

Charlotte just completed an undefeated month of Feburary, including wins over Cincy, DePaul, and Memphis. The team goes to Louisville on Thursday for a ESPN(2??) match-up.
Who is going to win? If Coach Lutz puts Badsen on Gracia from tip-off, Charlotte has a excellent chance of winning a close game. |

IMO......
I know Charlotte is hot, but at UL, and UL is still steaming with vengance from that home blowout to a severly underacheiving Memphis team. And dont make the mistake of thinking a great defender can stop Garcia, he gets 30% of his points off movement away from the ball, screens, and hustle. Badsen is a good defender, but a screen (or a series of screens) is still a screen. 2 straight years of late Feb early March fades for UL, it wont be 3 this year.
UL CUSA regular season and tourney champs........I predict that, But still Charlotte isnt on the top of the list anyone wants to play in the tourney. |

They beat Memphis at Memphis but don't get me wrong, they will NOT over look Charlotte. Badsen is actually averaging more points per game than Garcia but nevertheless that is the key match-up of the night even they are not gaurding each other.
The other x-factor will be our shooter Plavich. In the last home game he was quite selective with his shots, which I believe to be a good thing. If he can get hot and take and make good shots then that will be a great thing for Charlotte. Louisville has every right to be the favorite, just don't count Charlotte out. |
