Losing interest in sports - the decline of your favorite teams - February 4th, 2008
Will this rant even make sense, probably not but it came to mind and I thought that I would type it out anyway. Do I like to get bashed when I submit a story, no not really, but I do deserve it because most of the time my rants really do not mean anything. Anyway back to what this is about.

Your flying high, your favorite team(s), no matter what sport it maybe in, are having great years, making the playoffs, winning championships and you as a sports fan are just loving life. I am sure that most of the fans up in the Boston area are in hog heaven, well maybe not today, after loosing 17-14 to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII, but for the most part they are.

For most of my entire sports life the San Francisco Bay Area teams that I follow have been good. I have never been a fan of the Raiders or the A's.

The 49ers were the team of the decade when I was in high school and Steve Young and company kept them in the playoffs throughout most of the 90's. Even before the departure of Jeff Garcia, the 49ers started to decline. I would open the sports section on Sunday mornings or read NFL.com and they lost. I started not to care about Sundays any longer; I was loosing interest in the NFL. Did I care if the 49ers won on Sunday; sure I did and would catch the highlights on Sportscenter, but I would not alter my Sunday to make sure I would watch the game and waste 4 hours when I could spend it with my family doing something else like catching a movie or something.

The same can be said about the Giants. They have been a decent club for the past 15 seasons and have always been in some sort of contention in the NL West, but have been in a serious decline over the past 2 seasons and I really got tired of seeing the loosing streaks ever other week. So I lost interest in baseball and honestly still have not gained any interest back yet. I am sure glad that Bonds in now out of the picture though!

I don't know honestly, is it the teams fault, not really. Can I truly blame them for my decline in sports? Is it the fact that I have become a fat ass and that I get less exercise than my dead uncle. No new years resolution will help me now, I am just getting off my fat ass and loosing some weight, so I will feel better.

Can I blame it on work, which keeps my busy all the time, or is it my kids after school activities that I am always shuttling them too. I honestly do not have an answer and I know that this rant makes no sense, does it!!

Oh well that is enough for now, let the bashing begin!!
