Have you ever heard a song that plays on the radio or somewhere while walking down the street that sticks in your mind? Maybe it is played too often, like ESPN covering a major sporting news event that they drag into the mud, playing it over and over again. The Notre Dame marching band performed Darth Vader's theme during the game this past weekend about, oh let's see, 40 times (and that is not an exaggeration!). Every time the defense took the field, they would play this and let me express it in this statement: What a beating!
By now all of you know the outcome of the UCLA vs. Notre Dame Game this past weekend, October 21, 2006. Brady Quinn, a sure first round pick in the 2007 NFL draft, threw a 45 yard TD pass to Jeff Samardzija with 27 seconds left and Notre Dame won the game 20-17. It was a devastating blow to UCLA fans, especially KP. I felt terrible for him and all the UCLA fans that trekked to Indiana and left holding their heads in their hands.
One thing is for sure though; Notre Dame Fans are dedicated to their alma mater. Most of the fans that we conversed with were alumni, which is amazing if you take into account that the school only has 7500 students. On average only 1700 graduate each year from ND, and to have that many fans at a game is amazing.
Entire families and their generations below them seem to attend. I spoke with an older gentleman who stated that he, his son both graduated from Notre Dame and that one of his grandsons just enrolled this past fall. Someone must have some money, because the cost to attend such a university is around $ 32 thousand a year, and that just gets you in the door.

On Friday night KP and I watched the Chicago Bulls vs. Minnesota Timber wolves at the United Center in downtown Chicago. Minnesota won that game 85-83, but it was preseason
It was a great trip. I added some of the pictures, which are taken from my cell phone, to the member's gallery. KP took the better ones and I will get those an add them there later!
Next year we head to the East Coast!! Were hopefully others from the Rant will join us!
