Sports writers, commentators etc. hurt FANS by not speaking out about OBSCENE sports contracts for players, coaches and management. By not finding their balls or ovaries (in the case of Mary Kay Cabot) and being consistently critical of obscene sports contracts, they hurt sports fans, owners and even the players. Many players, do not have the experience to handle OBSCENE amounts of money, and it ruins their life.
By not finding the courage to speak out they risk loosing the very sports that they make their living commenting on. They fail to realize that it is the FANS that buy their newspapers, and listen to their radio or TV program.
When I first came to Cleveland around 1978, I could go down to the ballpark and get a ticket and have a good time, for a reasonable amount of money. This week, my wife took three friends to an Indians game, the tickets were $ 40.00 each, OBSCENE. Oh, silly me, according to management and players the player contracts have no effect on ticket prices. Right !
If a player is very good, pay them a BIG contract, like $ 1 million a year. That is still a lot of money. When you pay them $ 10 or $ 20 million per year that is much more than they can possibly spend and is OBSCENE.
