Do you ever sit down and wonder why professional sports athletes act as they do. Is it due to the amount of money that they earn? Or is it their ego’s which grow larger than life itself. What actually goes through Terrell Owens mind? Is T.O. the first to take his ego to such an extreme level? Or do we all, as males, have this egomania within us.
Sure Owens is probably the worst professional athlete which has ever taken the playing field, but his talent is so amazing that some people just do not care that he acts like such an ass on or off the field. Owens playing days in Philadelphia are over! Sure the Eagles will probably trade him, but what should they get, compensation, a first round pick?
Ego’s are a dime a dozen and everyone knows that T.O is not the last that will act like this; others surely will take the field, probably sooner than later. Owens must have had some turning point in his life which caused him to start acting like he does. I wonder if maybe he was molested as a child and this is his way of fighting back. I know he was the kid who was always picked on in school and once his talents carried him to the NFL, he knew it was time for payback.
Being a San Francisco 49er fan, I was a complete backer of T.O. I first thought that he was the second coming of Jerry Rice. When he made that last second TD catch to beat the Pack, every forty-niner fan, including myself, went crazy. This is where I believe it all started, he knew he was going to be a star and his actions started it. The next season he caught 20 touchdowns, grew into probably the most dominant receiver in the game, then came Dallas and the Star. Let’s take a moment and look at Owens’ antics:
Stood in the star in Dallas – 49er
Sharpie signing – 49er
Pompom indecent - 49er
Made public comments about Jeff Garcia, hinting he was gay
Made comments, on numerous occasions, about Donovan McNabb
Sit ups in his front yard while giving a press conference
And others that I cannot think of!
His latest antics, which at the time of this story is old news, but I just felt that I had to get this off my chest, has probably cost him lots of money and the end of his career with Philadelphia. Today’s professional athletes, whether they like it or not, are the role models to our next generation of leaders and they should act accordingly, or quit dammit! Though he apologized, once again, to his teammates, coaches, and the people of Philadelphia does not matter. He should be fired actually he should be banned by the NFL for the rest of the season.
Steve Young recently stated that Owens was the hardest worker on the field, more than any other he has come across but is disgraced to see him act the way he does. Young goes on to state that he is done with T.O. as a friend, he is disgraced at his actions.
Terrell Owens thinks he is a legend, in his own mind that is. Sure I am just going on and on about this and sure I should shut up. I will when TO does!
