Veterans Day in the USA - November 11th, 2006
Today is Veterans Day. To most it really means nothing and that is not right. More than a few people will thank someone for their their service today but for the most part it is an empty plaudit. Sort of like like an obligatory how are ya or a holiday greeting. Those who serve do so for their own reasons. Some have noble intentions, some for the school money, some because the crave the adventure and a few because they have nothing else to do. Once they get in they are all equal and if duty calls them to a hostile area they share the danger.

Most will return home safely. Some will not. There are physical injuries for some survivors and emotional trauma for many more. The VA does what it can for these returning veterans but are limited by budget constraints all the while. The unfortunate fact is they do not do nearly enough.

You can do your part, no matter your feeling on the war or the administration handling of the war. Find out where you can buy a veterans poppy and do so. Make a contribution to your local VFW, American Legion, or any organization that handles veteran affairs. That is the kind of thanks that is needed and most appreciated.

Thanks for listening ranters and no matter where you stand on the war I thank you for caring.
